John-B 4
Only read a couple posts the last few days but there seems to be a growing trend in simple spelling errors such as "pidgeon" (pigeon) and "ferrit (ferret) I know we aren't Einstein but come on people it's basic English. Please list any common mistakes you see below just as a sort of fun way of secondary education. Pidgeon (pigeon) Ferrit (ferret)

I promise to try harder in future. I see you point, it's like this in most places. Some just find it hard and cannot be helped. We all make spelling mistakes from time to time. It's not a life changing matter..... So long as you get the drift then why worry. Here's one: Bread (Bred).

Pidgeon (pigeon) Ferrit (ferret) Eeeh lad, if you start listing poor English usage found on THL, then you'll be here till Dick docks, and he ain't got a boat yet ! I read in a paper a few weeks ago that one in nine are leaving school functionally illiterate [ by whatever standard they are using to define " functionally " ] So while I'm broadly in favour of accurate spelling and syntax, I can't help but feel that your post is a bit like that little lad in the story, who tries to plug the hole in the dyke with his thumb. shepp 2,285
Grayhound Feck lol In all seriousness, many of the young lads on here probably have the ability of a ten year old a couple of generations back, when it comes to spelling, grammar and punctuation. Standards are definitely dropping at schools these days. Edited November 8, 2010 by shepp

Pidgeon (pigeon) Ferrit (ferret) Well John my "English" is far from perfect and I can see from your post that yours isn't either.

deanflute 550
It's amazing how many people don't know the differnce between There, Their and They're. It does make hard reading from time to time but if I read the post a few times I tend to make some sence of it. It also annoys me the ammount of Emoticons used on some posts! I use the odd one now and again but some people have to put 5 or 6 on each post! Nothing to get to down about though, Just my daily moan! Have a nice Day people! Malt 379
I've got no problem with genuine spelling mistakes, but I've recently started ignoring users who persist in using stupid chav deliberate miss spelling: 'Lyk' 'ov' 'sumfink' 'enyone' and all that crap. That and text talk get right on my tits.. Oh and 'How's it bread' always makes me laugh when somebody's talking about a dog!
