If they're happy being handed crumbs rather than earning a decent wage then that's up to them as far as I'm concerned. All these proposals by the government of how they're going to shame those who claim the dole and FORCE them to work is short sighted and quite frankly a disgrace IMO. They're more or less comparing those on benefits to someone who has committed a crime and has been given community service as a result. Trying to embarrass people into going to work will never succeed IMO, if anything it will probably force them even further into the rut they've found themselves in. What they should do is find out where each person on benefits would be best employed, put them into training that will develop real skills that they could use to gain employment and more than that a decent CAREER! These people need to see the benefits of earning a decent wage and being able to support themselves (and their families). This IMO is just another case of the big people treading on the little people to take the attention away from their shortcomings and lies. How they've got the cheek to make such an issue of those who claim benefits after what they've been up to recently (and are still up to) is just unbelievable. I'm also surprised at all those who are having a moan on here, claiming they've grafted all their lives and paid taxes and what not. Do any of you really think you'd be personally better off if everyone in the country had a job and paid their taxes? If you do, then I think you need your head shaking. Or is it that some of you have grafted your entire miserable lives and haven't got any further up the ladder than when you first started out and are bitter about it? How about the government focusing on all those with extravagant wealth tucked up away in offshore accounts, who are getting away without paying the taxes they should be paying? Apparently, if all of those people paid the taxes they should do, then the economic problem we have in this country would be over with in three years. But that isn't going to happen, those in power will continue to allow the boys to swindle the tax, those in power will continue to waste money, and those in power will continue to point the finger at those at the bottom.
