New puppy and a bit of bushing

Recommended Posts

Ive not posted much recently as we've just moved house, got masses of work on, had no internet for a bit, been busy building kennels etc and dealing with my new pup i picked up last week. Very hectic month! Heres a little of what i've been up to.

I bought a pup out of the litter bred by sussexpoacher, firstx collie grey over linebred lurcher bitch. I've been umming and arring over a puppy for ages as my main bitch is not old but beset with injuries, when i saw this litter they just seemed right. I saw the pups from four weeks and after much deliberation, several visits and a bit of bushing to see the parents work I picked a bitch and named her Willow. We kept visiting every week until picking her up last friday. She seems to have settled in well and i have high hopes for her for next season.

Tyla has finally got off the sick list and been out on the lamp a few times, done some ferreting and a fair bit of bushing. I always forget how good she is when shes sound, she racked up a fair few daytime rabbits on excersize and a few more on the lamp.

Just after the move we did a bit of bolting for the dogs. Midge, my friends beddy whip grey took to it like a duck to water and showed Parker she now has the edge when it comes to straight line speed, im sure he still has a few tricks up his sleeve though!

We had a wander round some new bushing ground today as our usual haunt has been decimated by mixy. The new ground was very good although mixy was rife there too. Of the 10 we caught a couple had full blown, three were pretty clean and the rest seemed to be recovering from the disease. It would have been nice to leave the recovering ones to spread the immunity but not so easy to explain that to the dogs! My mate recently took on a 10 month bull whippet grey bred by blackstaff that needed a new home. He was a pet until a couple of weeks back but has picked up the game very fast. He caught his first today and did very well as a member of the pack. This new ground is my first bit of permission in the new area after the move and based on today things are looking rosy, i've got my eye on a couple of adjoining bits too but will have to find out who owns them first.

Not taken many pictures but heres a few

look like a right bunch of misfits :tongue2: not a bad looking pup though

Whats the tool box in the first picture for :hmm: fixing broken lurchers :boogie::tongue2:

An accurate description i think lol

The tool box, as you call it, is a hi tech ultra modern ferret transport solution! Waterproof too!

I have to admit though, if it did contain a magic lurcher repair kit it would be bloody handy for my line of glass lurchers LOL :D
