WHAT IS LINE BRED SORRY FOR BEING THICK

brother over half sister an so on :thumbs:

brother over half sister is in-breeding, line breeding is to form a family /strain using one common ancestor

normally an outstanding animal in it's field ... race horse, dog, pigeon or budgie ... whatever, can remember

reading a great book on the subject... primarily regarding racing pigeons but examples used regard other

animals and (though frowned upon)human beings .... (IE) the greats of GREECE .. Aristotle etc. I vaguely

remember his pedigree plan ... line breed to a stud sire as follows (the book is on loan at moment to a mate

but i will confirm correctness of pedigree plan) as always with any stock you should always use breeding stock

that is as "GOOD as your own or BETTER" ....RIGHT THEN.. stud sire is A you breed him to the best 2 females you

can (relationship not important.. but quality is)... call these B and C....the offspring D and E mate these 2

together ( 1/2 brother to 1/2 sister) the offspring F is a double bred to A, now breed A to F the outcome

should be his like ( in type, conformation and the other trends you chose him for winning etc) as it is linebred

to him. this is a proven pedigree plan ..... but you must be prepared to eliminate(cull)the unsuitable ones.

A X B = D, A X D ( his dtr) = E

A X C = F, A X F ( his dtr) = G

E (his son & g/son)

TO

G (his dtr & g/dtr)

this produces H

H = 75% A and 12 1/2% each B/C.
