dwolf 1
So are Azawakh very simular to the Sloughi, or used differently in their origanal places of origin ? They are similar in some aspects (in fact back in the 1970s they were thought to be the same breed until people realised that there were differences) and were used in North Africa for hunting the same game (hare, gazelle) but also there are considerable differences The Azawakh is taller than its body length, with very upright leg angulations, with straight back (not rounded like whippet or greyhound) sloping slightly upwards from withers to haunches (whereas the Sloughi is slightly longer in body length) The Azawakh should have white markings on chest/neck, all 4 feet and tip of tail (whereas the Sloughi is not supposed to have any white, although this is acceptable on chest). It comes in all shades of sand from pale through to mahogany, can also be brindle (but only black brindle is allowed) Some good looking dogs there. Are they protective & good watch dogs? If so, they might be a good dog or x for someone looking for an all rounder, i.e., hunter & guard. Does anyone know of anyone running them on game in the states? cheers, Edited December 14, 2010 by dwolf Quote Link to post
