deemac01 0
It's putting up pictures like the one Foxfan just put up that has all the macho wannabee types keeping them. There were articles and books written 40 and 50 years ago that stated that we had to mind our working lines and protect them from the show fraternity and the peddlers. Guess what???? Years later even after our sport has been seriously curtailed by the law we have workers as good if not better than ever. It's just that nowadays those that have them can't shout it from the roof tops. But they're there. :big_boss: true neil keep them well and work them hard Quote Link to post

Because their not going to effect our dogs, we keep em for the right reasons, to work. though I do feel sorry for the poor mites sold into non working homes, that should be illegal Quote Link to post

hedz31 1,308
Hopefully this is just a fad the public is going through,it is quite worrying though and it is partly to blame on the tyro terrier men in the first place the ones that sell them for money because the pet market is more lucrative and holds higher prices, just remember there is some big names that sell a fair few pups to the public as well so there not all council estate shed litters of god knows what, the show and pet folks have already ruined the border terrier, the bedlington and the lakeland to a degree luckily like its been said there are a few good lads out there that have kept those breeds true to what they were ment for and good on them, and i am sure there is lads out there that will keep black fells or patterdales if you will true to what they were bred for in the first place and yes there really are some idiots out there in the public that walk around with these dogs i have bumped into a couple of them when i have been walking my terriers and i dont know if i wanna laugh or cry when i hear the garbage that comes from there mouth regards hedz Quote Link to post
Ben Dover 1
how can anyone call there dog a true patterdale fukin madness if you ask me should they not be called fell types or blacks ? are they not black and tan as well as black pats ? fell types black , blackntan, red, cross breds them all , My thoughts exactly, it's up to everyone to clean up his own backyard and would any true worker of terriers be really be fooled by such merchants ? just like the KC is not the reason why most dogs are shit but rather the people, where every individual is responsible for doing his own thing rather than blaming others JMHO Quote Link to post
foxfan 479
Who would of ever thought that the Jack Russell would end up standardised and KC registered, but its happened. I think its inevitable that the same will happen with the Patterdale ? Years ago you couldnt buy a bad one, now they have already split into the work or show type. Quote Link to post
Skinny 29
the solution is simple surplus pups or dogs that dont work to the vet. unfortunately too many are caught by the lure of money and prostitute there breeding to unscruplous and unsuitable owners. if you took money completely out of working dogs it would only benefit all breeds including the patterdale terriers. If there had never been a pit bull sold in the british isles then I bet they would not be on the dda list. the patterdale could be the next victim. 1 Quote Link to post
