stihl

When I used to do hedgelaying (can hardly call it a job for the cr@p money it paid), the cheaper Stihl chainsaws would barely last a season. Normally the oil pump would give out and the repair costs meant they went in the scrap bin. They were ideal size and weight for the job, though. I'm told that in recent years, the chinese carburetors on the 'DIY' range have become a problem too. My advice would be to buy Stihl, but find the money to buy a professional range saw and learn how to service it, even if just for cutting your own firewood. The 026 saw is the one to have for most jobs.

husqvarna chain saws are an equal match for any stihl

Bang on, ive used one quite a lot over the past 3 yrs with a 20+ in bar on it and it gets through the toughest of dry oak like a knife through butter.

husqvarna saws are alot heavyer than stihls. im useing the stihl ms361 ground saw and the ms200t topping saw there isnt much better than them imo.

the ms200t is the next saw on my list used one the other week and was very impressed by it, quality bit of kit

Jonsered 2054 turbo running a 15" (spare saw)

Jonsered cs 2153 Running 15" Best power to weight saw I've used..

Husqy 365 running a 20" crooss cutting and felling saw

All doing part time professional work, never had one in the doctors yet...laugh.gif

My only hate is the new system on the 2153 for chain tensioning etc...takes a lot longer to change a bar over ...

Although saying that if I was going to get a cheap homeowner saw I think the cheap stihls are better than the cheap huskys from what I have seen.

year ive got a stihl ms180 as a spare saw

They are nice saws the 180's, my mate got a more or less new ms181 last week for £100, jammy git! its only done a couple of hours work.

My old man has had the same stihl saw (grinder) for as long as I can remember. Must be coming up 20 years now, and to my knowledge all he's done with it is change the blade & spark plug. It's a b*****d to start, but once it's going there's no stopping it. Probably start like a dream if the tight fecker put it in for a service now and again!:thumbs:

  your as bad not doing it for him mate!!!!

You're having a laugh Stewie, it's as much as I can do to get a pint out of the tight git in the pub...:thumbs:
