Guaranteed Dogs

Dont know if this has been covered before but i was just pondering at what age a dog can be guaranteed at.

Ive been noticing that in the for sale section there are dogs for sale at 18 months old and sometimes younger supposedley guaranteed all quarry.

My personal take on this is a dog needs to be at least 3 years old before any sort of guarantee can be placed upon it.Preferably 4 years old if im being honest.

All thoughts on this will be much appreciated...atb stabba

 

Most lads points are spot on. But i know a couple lads that had so called GUARANTEED DOGS when they actually get hold of stuff but theres being GUARANTEED when they are on quarry but its the Actual catching of the quarry they are not so GUARANTEED AT. . Hope that make sense it does in my head. .

why dose it have to be an age thing?

one bloke could take his dog out one time a week so when it gets to 4 and its doing the bizz dose that make it guaranteed?

then on the other hand a bloke could take his one year old dog out 5 times a week and it be doing the bizz but is that not a guaranteed dog because it is not 3/4 years old even know it has see fare more game in that year than the 4 year old dog in its life.

its ment to be about a dog from starting work at say 12 months and worked regular.me personally would,nt sting a young dog with 5 nights lamping a week anyway.

 

what is wrong with 5 nights a week you dont have have to be out all night half hour or an hour could be anuf but that was not my point.

that i mean is a young dog could have seen fare more work than a 4/5 year old ''guaranteed'' dog but it would not be considered a guaranteed dog because of its age.

most dogs that are for sale are bull cross that are put into things far 2 young 13 14 months thinking because they have the height and look like an older dog they should be doing what an older dog should bull shit imoa.

If you still have dog or bitch at 3 or 4 from 6 weeks old you don't have it for nothing must be doing something right but no dog is guaranteed every day is diff and every day brings new test for a young dog

Guaranteed just means that a dog will do what the seller says it will. I think that Stabba is confusing 'guaranteed' with 'tried and tested'. The lesson is to listen very carefully to what the seller actually guarantees you the dog will do so that you buy on the basis of what they have actually told you rather than on what you want to hear. For instance: if someone tells you that "I can guarantee you that this bull cross will kill any fox he gets hold of" he is not telling you that the dog is capable of catching a fox or anything else at all, simply that if it somehow happens to get hold of one it will kill it!

I don't think their is any such thing as guaranteed... Reliable, honest etc but guaranteed...

 

I would firstly agree with Wilfs post, then, thinking about it, i'd go with Dotty's...

 

Funny, but most of the comments have been made about seasons... What about numbers, as different lads will do different ammounts during a season, so it would be no 'measuring stick' to me.

 

I'd only think in seasons if I had knowlage of how much the person gives his dog. Pre-ban, if someones dog was up for sale in its third season but that dog has only taken single figures (all be it well) per season, would that be a 'guaranteed dog???

 

Then i've seen dogs that have taken over two ton in a season and a half spew...

 

In this life, with dogs, nothing is guaranteed...Even with a bit of background knowlage...You pays your money and you takes your choice!
