Guaranteed Dogs

Dont know if this has been covered before but i was just pondering at what age a dog can be guaranteed at.

Ive been noticing that in the for sale section there are dogs for sale at 18 months old and sometimes younger supposedley guaranteed all quarry.

My personal take on this is a dog needs to be at least 3 years old before any sort of guarantee can be placed upon it.Preferably 4 years old if im being honest.

All thoughts on this will be much appreciated...atb stabba

i think if you give the dog work week in week out and it is still at the top of its game and doing it single handed you can say the dog has earned the right to be classed as Garenteed/

MY VIEW ON THIS IS FIRST SEASON APPRENTICE 2ND SEASON SHOULD BE BETTER AT THE JOB 3RD SEASON SHOULD HAVE IT DOWN TO FINE ART.4 SEASON THATS YOUR GAURANTEED NO DOUBT ABOUT IT FINISHED DOG.IN ITS PRIME AND A JOY TO WORK.

Good thread mate, I dont think there is such a thing as guaranteed....it is possible to sicken any livving thing if you push it hard enough.

Thats true Wilf.... but at age 4 or thereabouts you should at least have plenty of faith in the dog to know that the dog/bitch will have seen enough to be able to cope with workload thrown at it....i agree that every dog has its limit but its down to the owner to to know when that limit is near and to know when enough is enough...atb stabba

why dose it have to be an age thing?

one bloke could take his dog out one time a week so when it gets to 4 and its doing the bizz dose that make it guaranteed?

then on the other hand a bloke could take his one year old dog out 5 times a week and it be doing the bizz but is that not a guaranteed dog because it is not 3/4 years old even know it has see fare more game in that year than the 4 year old dog in its life.

its ment to be about a dog from starting work at say 12 months and worked regular.me personally would,nt sting a young dog with 5 nights lamping a week anyway.

Well it works for me mate its just a guid line I got drummed in to me. If my dog puts up with the work they get in my eyes its garenteed!
