Jordb543 9
Hi all, i was exercising the terrier this morning along the cycle track, ive been walking here for years but never seen alot of rabbits the odd one now and then, anyway my terrier was happily following me then all of a sudden he stopped dead head down on a sent and flushed about 8 rabbits out of this bush and into a small field, naturally he was threw a hole in the fence and after them, and he was at the heels of one when it got into another bush and he dived straight through it, i was calling him back as there is an active railway line next to the 2nd bush, but he wouldnt return, so i had to climb over a 6ft fence run across the field, and get him, when i got to him i saw him in the bramble bush he had a small rabbit in his mouth (i was very proud, his 1st ever kill), i chucked the rabbit into the middle of the field for the birds and put him on his lead and took him home. but the main thing that was bothering me was if the rabbit had bolted across the track at the wrong time he would be dead, so just wondered if anyone can make their terriers stop chasing something by command? or if they also have a problem with 'selective hearing' aswell Edited November 3, 2010 by Jordb543 Quote Link to post

chalkedup 14
i got mine at 3 1/2 as he lived next to a farm and killed a sheep if i had him from a pup he might be different, in 3 1/2 years the owner couldnt even get him to let go of anything, he wouldnt even sit hed just look at me like hed kill me lol now he will instantly let go when i tell him although it took plenty of training, me getting bitten twice and 2 dogs nearly killed hes like a different dog now, well behaved,99% dog friendly and alot stronger but his prey drive will never go Quote Link to post
