I can honestly say no matter how hard anyone tryed to ruin the chat it just cant be done really, more bitching slagging ect goes on in the main forums, the mods, well one mod just took the whole looking after chat thing way too far lol. Nobody forces anybody to donate to the site so if you don't want to use the chatroom facilities then stay out........simple as that. Since becoming a donators area only the chatroom has become a place where members can come in and have a chat and a laugh without fear of being intimidated my brain dead morons coming in purely to cause trouble. The site costs a lot of money to keep up and running so donations are vital to help offset the costs of providing a top hunting forum for all the members to enjoy. So it isn't a money making scam as you wish to imply..... it was done to allow donating members to enjoy the chat facilities whilst keeping the muppets out. Good forum software costs and trust me this is good software that runs fast and smoothly in general. I reckon if ian makes anything he puts anything back to you the members..look at the boots he's sold on here £50 cheaper than elsewhere ...the latest lithuim battery's at a very good price ..and i know they're quality because i've seen them ..they weren't cheap chinese crap .. If you non donating members want a free chatroom go create your own somewhere else there's plenty of free stuff around ..have a conference chat on msn ..use skype anything ..just stop bleating about a voluntary fiver Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Oh and surprise surprise.........i see you are not a donator Rolfe. nice childish comment from a mod i see lol , for your information ..even tho i never used the chat everyday i had been in there a couple of times , once warning about a dog thief who i just found in my garden. getting on to donations ... yes i agree that keeping the site costs a lot of money and donations are a great way of doing it , but how long will it be before some 'ban button' power mod comes up with the bright idea of charging people to use the running section or any other part of the site because that is what you are doing ... Charging people but calling it a donation. dont get me wrong i dont care either way as i found the chat box was a little dated anyway and rarely used it but i do have a voice and this has been put up in general chat so her i am ..... chatting about it. maybe a better approach would be to ask the people who you have lost (who you liked being on there) to come back for your so called donation. unfortunatly ive seen it many times be the downfall of a site when money is involved and i do hope this one doesnt go the same way. im not telling anyone how to run there site but new software and money makers are always coming out and the best way for a site to make money is thru click thrus and advertising, i notice a couple on here where mr darcys book is but what about doing it in flash (along with many others) and when people ask where they can get such a such from they can be pointed to the click thru and it wont take up any more space? and maybe an agreement could be made with the seller that when someone buys thru the site a small donation of a couple of quid is made to the site. imagine the potential of even charging a seller £1 to advertise each time in the for sale section (where i firmly believe it should be) isnt a quid a fair price? i think so. (a £300 dog sold for £301 instead )that way the whole site can be maintained and everyone can enjoy it donator or not but keeping it free to browse threads or even use the chat as im sure the chat box provider would have something to say about there software being charged.... sorry being donated too. as for keeping the idiots out of chat , isnt that what mods are for and remember with certain free chat rooms you can ban ip's , usernames etc for any set amount of time. just my friendly two pence worth Edited November 4, 2010 by chimp Quote Link to post Share on other sites
