Parents ...good ..or ...bad.

Recommended Posts

you know. We take them for granted. some of us have fallen out with them all together, others just cant be arsed with them. The mithering , the worrying etc...

My dad and i worked together everyday for 18years. We became best mates. Then when the business was doing well, my dad decided to retire and enjoy life even more

than he already was doing.. Up till that point we saw each other everyday, laughed, played football, joked, argued, even had a fight, but we were always best mates

Then he went off doing what he likes best,(traveling the world and mountaineering) and i caried on grafting. slowly we drifted apart, and now it is rare if i see him

more than once a month....my mum, i see her regular, and often go for tea... Why do we do this, why do we not bother to get in touch, or even speak, call around...

They arent going to be there forever, and it takes something to make you realise just how much you will miss them!! Get in touch with them. I really wish i hadnt

let us get so far apart, and so much time pass us by....Russ

My wife and i have both lost our parents at an early age, i was only 31. What we miss is Sundays, when parents come over for coffee, dinner or just a chat. Sundays in our house are shit. Also, no matter how old you are your parents will always be there when you need that little bit of advice. I miss mine.

My Dad's my best mate. We too worked together for many years too, good times and bad. I never saw him so much when I was a kid 'cos he used to work away a lot. I didn't really get to know my Dad properly 'til I was well into my teens. Which left at home with my mum.....

She was a feckin' nightmare. A stroppy, abbusive alcoholic with a chip on her shoulder and a grudge against the world.

She killed herself when I was 24. Only thing she ever did right and it took the daft cow 5 goes before she got it right.

Bitter?? Feck yes.
