Before my time really, if i wanted to go on one now id have to travel a bit. Iv heard from older guns that they would get 200 odd hares on these days but they would walk miles and miles. Anyone who couldnt hack it was left where they stopped! Even on our shoot when we're lamping we regularly see 10+ hares on a single field. on one estate where we have had NEED to decimate the hare,the bag ranges from 50-150. a neighbouring estate are holding one this year,the last time we done it was roughly 10yrs ago and killed not far off 400,this year should exceed that.. i thought one of the reasons for outlawing hare coursing was that the brown hare numbers were declining? seems mad you can shoot 400 but not allowed to catch one or two with a coursing dog 1 Quote Link to post
