Is there any easy way of catching moles. other than digging them out, the land im on is riddled with holes and the farmer said he wouldnt mind if i got rid of them. cheers

Best way is to get yourself some good quality mole traps and have a play with them. Its not differcult if you take time to learn the basics. its not something you would be able to learn from myself or anyone replying in short to a post but here are a few basic tips that should help you out a bit.

 

1, look for the most resent mounds of earth (mole hills) and locate the tunnel running between them,do this with a prob or a large screw driner.

 

2, using a small garden trowel or, if you can find one a mole spade, break into the tunnel with just a big enough hole to fit the trap into place

 

3, using the turf taken from the hole cover round the trap to cut out any draughts and daylight.

 

4, take a big bottle of patience and drink deeply every time you are tempted to take a look to see if you have caught a mole. GIVE IT TIME.

 

Everone of us who trap moles will have our own methods but in truth the basics are the same, some say wear gloves and others dont, some say boil your traps others dont, some use tunnel traps others use tongs type traps, but, one things for sure, some people catch and others dont.
