Thought I'd ask about the mardiest types. . I've kept a lot of types, but my saluki x whinges over anything? My bitch ran into him yesterday and he didn't shut up for ages. . I shut the door and caught his toe the other day and it sounded like murder. He whines if we stop walking. . My other 3dogs are tough as old boots but my saluki x is a pussy. . Is it just the saluki in him or just his age? I've always bin lucky until now, and he aint nervous or handshy, just a proper drama queen. . He's ten month now. Cheers

had a lurcher years ago .just a bitsa breed.one day for whatever reason i had to shout at her.and fcuk me did she no start screaming no only that but she lifted her back leg and started to limp.me and my mate stopprd dead in our tracks.never seen out like that before or since..and we were on the public path people looking at us feking dog limping and screeming out in front of us. embarrasing but she did turn into the best dog i have ever owned R.I.P FLY

telling you mate i was shocked.didnt know where to look .couple of minns later called her in to me gave her a scratch on the ear.and her leg dropped back down and away she went running about with the other dogs .once aswell my mates dog started a fight with one of his other dogs.so he ran down to sort it out waving his arms about and shouting.my dog was about 50 yrds away hunting up some cover and she did it then aswell.only this time i thought it was funny as fcuk .was a clever dog that.sympathy.never have a dog like that again she was my lifetime dog

no she didnt.me nd ma mates seen her do it a few times over the years.{but i did check her for that aswell at the time }whenever there was shouting or even other dogs scrapping she would do it .no always screeming but the linp would come on .

my whip grey bitch pup about 10 months is nightmare, gives little whine if go upstairs, loves her kennel in garden takes herself out there most time, but if i put her out there and she look threw door whinin. when go work leave in garden, mrs still in bed will whine. does my tits in.

its salukis for u mate. they can be the best and the worst. once you get it right u will be ok. but u have got a long way to go.wait till it starts hunting up and when it catches wont come back. you have to give them time good luck

Just based on the lurchers i've owned or known, then i'd presumed that being mard was a defining characteristic of the dogs. Compared to the gundogs and working breeds i've had the lurchers are soo sensitive.

 

 

spot on , all xs bull,collie, ............... the lot, anything with running dog in it. you really have to dig deep in your self, at times with this kind of dog, as there very easy to feck up (for good) just keep takin deep breaths, that what i have to do even after 25 years with these types of dogs. Prob one of the easiest dogs to live with+train are labs, i used to do beating and even young labs that were not full trained, had bollocking's and took it, and still were ok with there owners, not like a feckin lurcher . Maybe labxgrey is the way to go.
