Armed Response

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Not sure if this is true or not but I've been told that if you are a FAC or SGC holder and are driving a car registered to you that the Police want to stop they won't do so untill they have an armed response unit at the scene?!

Is this true or have I been told a load of sh1te Yes?

If it is a load of sh1te and you get pulled with a rifle / shotgun in the car are you supposed to tell plod that it's there? No. Why?

Hasn't happened to me but I'd rather know in advance!

Cheers,

Mick.

I had the helicopter out a couple of months ago at 4 in the morning I was in some woods so I walked back to the car opened the boot and laid both shoties out broken then phoned the herts control room told them that the helicopter was over head I gave them my URN No and was told to walk away from the car and keep my hands on show as soon as I walked away 2 bobbies appeared they were hiding and waiting for a ARV HAND CUFFS were put on then the ARV arrived 10 mins later the copper who put the cuffs on was a right gobby twat recond I was going to get 5 years

When the ARV finally arrived what a result the driver was a member of the same clay shooting club as me he duly bollocked the gobby one sent the copter on its way turned out the first two coppers had seen my car and it flagged up as owner having a SGC and they called the helicoptor in

I later got a call from the duty Inspector Apolagising for any inconveniance

What's a URN number?

Its basically the number the police assistance desk give you when you phone up to tell them you are out lamping. Normally I only do this if I am going to be out and about near a residential area.

Thanks.

It actually means... Unique Reference Number

I have been told that when your car registration is run on the PNC "associated with firearms" will flag up. I don't know this for a fact but next time I do a bit of pest control in a station I'll ask the question.

I know that due to health and safety your average police employee can not handle "guns" until checked over by an ARU ( armed response unit ). So I guess theoretically, what you have been told may be correct.

I got stopped 1 night out lamping, was just myself and the police came up road, 3 policemen in the car, asked what was doing and said just out at lamping for foxes. Asked them if they wanted to see my FAC and they did then they check the rifle with the ticket and where happy enough and chatty. Was just let on my way with no problems.

Got stopped a few times in the past, And asked where i was coming from or going i always say hunting as the gear gives it away...lol

we were asked ine day could they see the deer we shoot as they had never seen one, and right in the middle of the road, we opened the boot.... cars behind had a right good look...lol

must of thought we where in the shit... lol

also got asked could they see my gun, and was it made safe as they couldn't inspect it... i said it was and they duely poped the covers up and looked at the trees in the distance...

You do however get the very odd, MR know it all.... saying do you know its illegal to shoot deer....!!!!!

mostly good sorts around here...

but i know many of them from my search and recovery days.... So that also helps a bit...

horses for courses each area will have their own way of doing things i suppose..

Thats amazing they never asked for any I.D for getting your rifle back.

Think it depends what part of country your from, I found them up here to be pretty good, FAO is fairly clued up and knows his stuff and never had any problems with them, then other areas they just make up rules to suit themselves. I know a lad down south who could only shoot deer from a high seat, no where else but from a high seat only and that was down on his firearms ticket.
