GarryN 5
The viscosity is the difference, 35ml per second for cherry, I can't remember for kerosene, so the wrong viscosity will clog the burning nozzle.
TOMO 26,613
kero is 28 second, and the above fella is correct 35 second for cherry,, as i said erlier DONT PUT CHERRY IN YOUR HEATING TANK,, THE OTHER THING is if your a tennant, the landlord is responcible for the maintance of the boiler,, ours is checked yearly to comply with safety regs. now if you feck it up with cherry ,, who do you think will pay for a new one,,,,, your landlord????????????? get your hand in that swiss acount and draw out £250 by the way some companys insist on cash up front.... however some will send you an invoise a couple of weeks after the delivery ,,,, so you can kind of get it on tick for a few weeks. also some companys do a payment plan on a monthly bassis... you pay so much each month and you get so many deliveries a year. this monthly amount is quite low but it ties you to that price for a year, so if the price of fuel goes down alot you will still be paying the higher amount. the choise is yours

I wouldn't be risking damaging the boiler, that would cost a bit more than the difference in price between the red (free) and heating oil for sure! The payment plan looks good, better to have a regular amount coming out than getting the tank filled once or twice a year.

clint 45
kerosine = heating fuel (This burn very hot)industrial parafin, it not refined. Gas oil= agriculural fuel (This for use in off road vehicle), is unrefine diesel,ok for tractor, or generator.

Strong Stuff 2,171
Another retarded question from the keyboard of a confused city boy living in the countryside .......... Is domestic heating oil the same as red diesel? Or rather can red be used to run a domestic central heating boiler with no modification? Been looking around on oil suppliers sites and a lot seem to list both together, hence my question you can put it in your tank alright and use it, i mixed half and half with farm diesel last year. ran for about 2/3 month, then needed serviced, it is all to do with pressure, and basically your boiler soots up. and its not any cheaper, in fact its dearer, unless you can get knock off for cash. I have already told you all what happens when you ACTUALLY try it. It was the boiler servicing man that told me, infact he asked me, and i told him what i had done. He does my boiler service for £40 as a foriegner { unofficial job on the side, devious thieving english twat, but i like him }. And I already listened! I won't be trying it, as Tomo rightly pointed out, there'd be a very unhappy landlord if I knacker his boiler up. The only reason I was considering it was to enable me to buy smaller quantities than have to hand over money for 500L at a time, it's been a very expensive few months here, cost me near 3 grand to get in here in the first place, and as I've had to start from scratch with everything there isn't a lot left to be buying heating oil only for it to sit outside .............. shame no one sells smaller barrells of it. I wasn't disregarding your answer Manx, I was replying to the other lads who posted.
