Carrier bag to put the dead in. Oh yeah a sharp knife! Rangefinder, but seldom use it! what do you carry it in Either my pockets or a carrier bag what do you wear Dutch Army DPM, trousers, and jacket as well as a hat (woolie if cold, boonie if warm), gloves, multi pocketed vest, jacket, boots, what do you use Depends on mood really, sometimes a springer, but usually my AA S200 (cuz I'm lazy and its darn accurate) Phantom Quote Link to post

andyfr1968 772
Apart from the obvious, gun (HW90 .20), pellets etc.... I always carry a good knife. Some string to carry what's been shot, I prefer useing string than carrying a game bag. I mostly shoot in woods so I wear light weight shoes so I can feel what I'm standing on, plain green trousers, either an old UK army jacket or my Real Tree fleece when it's cold. I don't tend to wear a hat unless it's winter 'cos I spend most of my days outside so I'm normaly quite tanned. Phone just in case and also so I can take pics that my feckin' laptop won't let me post on here... Cheers. Quote Link to post

pianoman 3,587
TX200 .22, TX200HC .177 FAC or HW80 FAC .22 and scope, depending on what I'm Hunting. Ammo is kept in a screw-lid old Eley Wasp pellet tin, lined with Chamoise leather superglued to the inside and painted cammo in enamel paint. It keeps ammo secure, clean and dry and, above all, doesn't make a sound when I'm reloading, stalking or moving. Lasted me near ten years so far! A sharp knife for hide building. A webbing pack filled with a couple of old German army cammo jackets and a blanket(!) I use one for a ground sheet and the pack with my rifleslip for a softly supportive shooting rest for my forehand arm. Makes shooting with a heavy rifle from a static, prone position very comfortable for long periods and quickly packs away and on my back when it's time to move. Carries a decent bit of snap too! A full waterbottle is essential, especially in hot summer weather. Cammo is British Forces DPM Jacket and trousers, padded leather shooting gloves, cammo bushhat or cap. Green woolly pully. Scrim scarf. Realtree headnet (essential), warm socks and good boots. You can go wild on spending money here. Rabbits only see in Black and White so, as long as you are still, quiet, facing into wind and blending with the terrain of your shoot, you will be succesful in being unseen and unaware-of when one pops out in front of you. 1ft-long sections of string in a pocket. Ties up in a loop around the hind legs of rabbits and makes them easy to carry to the car. Works for me Quote Link to post

pianoman 3,587
Well said Steve/hunter1989, I think the fellow here is a bit unused to things and just looking for a point of departure on the right tracks and who can blame him for that! . colliegreyhound123 maybe if you can keep your questions here it'll be easier to keep info together for you mate. Ok? As you can see this one question alone elicits several answers, all of them sound, all of them based on what individual shooting approaches require. Really it boils down to what YOU think you are going to need to be comfy and effective for a typical day's shooting. Your rifle, scope and ammo must be top drawer of course, and so must your ability to shoot with it. Something to target-up and zero your scope to the optimum accuracy of you and your weapon. I have an area on my shoot, well away from my quarry, that I use to have a good hour or two zeroing and practicing, prior to setting out to hunt. It gets my head into the zone as much as my rifle! And I'm certain the other lads here will have a similar set-up too. Cammo that will conceal and break-up your outlines and keep you comfortable and dry, maybe a knife, comfy boots. Successful hunting is not just how good you are with your rifle, but equally how well you understand and use fieldcraft that puts you where the quarry is, without them knowing you are there. And ALWAYS shooting ONLY to the range you are confident at, no further! Those are the basic tricks of this trade laddie! Edited October 30, 2010 by pianoman Quote Link to post
