what are the best excuses a land owner has given you for not letting you on there land?

Recommended Posts

the reason i ask is me and my mate was out ferreting today and on the way home we seen a field with about 40 rabbits that bolted into two warrens in the middle of the field. so we went to the house and there was a guy in the garden we told him that we were getting rid of the rabbits in the area for the local land owners and asked if we could ferret his land. his reply was well if you had come a few months ago then you could have but there is now a lynx in the woods that has just had a litter that is keeping the rabbits down.

i didnt know weather to slap him for thinking i would believe him or piss my pants laughing. but the look on his face was totally serious.

so was just wondering if you have been given any stupid lines as to why you can not have permission.

just incase you are thinking you have read this wrong he did say a famaly of lynx (the large cat from asia)

At the end of the day, its down to the landowners, maybe he just didn't want to say a straight out NO...

And if you had of said CONTROL the numbers rather than get rid off, things may of been different,

i had a farmer say no, i thanked him for his time, walked to the jeep and he then called me back and gave me the permission, i'd say it was just to see how i would react,

Since then he's gained me more land, and gives me a beef leg at christmas or 5 or 6 t bone steaks from his own animals.... or leg of lamb..

Don't take a no to heart it just depends on the time of day you call on the farmer too,

ATB with the hunt for permission.

Snap.

i know what your saying it way just the lynx thing.

i was not fussed that he said no just dont understand why he had to make up such a stupid story.

well me and my mate was giggling all the way home so not all bed.

pluss it turned out the land we wanted to ferret was not his so we went next door to the land and spoke to the farm hand and he asked us to leave a num with him so hopefully we should get a call.

theres no rabbits around here was the reply i had from a farmer last week and the place was overrun with them, :icon_eek::wallbash:

ive had that one aswell

the most common one we get is some one all ready dose it and they are doing a good job. but you can see the crop damage down the full length of the field.

so when would you say is the best time to go and see the farmer for permission,6 in morning dinner time or tea time cos they always seem to be busy to give you anytime to talk to you.and what day in the week.some of them are grumpy buggers.and judge you the wrong way when they look at you and who's anybody to judge its booked by its cover.then your confidance gets knock so then you just go ahead and do what like to do and kill vermin.
