cant get dog to work

OK so ive got a 15/16 month old bitch have been doing a bit of work her since about 9/10 months old but as she has got older have been going out with her 4 times a week she has never caught a rabbit but will bite them until they squeal then lets go she is not from working lines i have 3 kids all under 3 and have noticed that when she plays with the kids if they scream the dog will stop playing an get in bed i just cant seem to get her to work ive tried rabbit skins and she has watched other dogs takin rabbit and ran along side them while they have caught just don't know what else to try coming to a point now were i want to give up with her also she was raised around house rabbits up until 6 weeks old she is proper fully trained i don't even have to talk to her i can just point and she will follow my finger left an right sit lie down roll over etc. what else can i try or is she a lost cause any help will be a bonus thanks

Feed her a couple of rabbits maybe she mite realise they are fast food

try retrieving dead rabbit and give her lots of praise,hows she bred?

i had a dog was the same he would run them just not pick them up then took him out with other dogs then he just learnt himself really then he turned out to be a good dog my mate give it up at 14 month old because he give up but i do have alot of patience thats all you can give it

i tried dead rabbits an if the other dogs have caught we cut em up in field an feed her them straight away she not really interested in dead ones compared to the other dogs i have patience to but it just feels like she doesn't want to hunt and wants to be a family pet im gutted cos thats all i want to do but cant force her into it she is a collie/ whippet/ grey was thinkin of giving her to my mum so i can still see her and start again either with a pup or an older dog but then i will be taking on someone elses problem

Try just taking her out with other dogs and not let her run just watch other dogs do this a couple of nights then after a week if your mates dog brings one back live to hand let her play with it. Then giver her a few seated rabs right up close no long slips take your time

if i was u mate i would just take her out once a week with another dog let her watch and when she starts pulling on the led let her have a go thats all u can do really do mate hope it all works out for you mate

i would work on her conifidence, she seems a little shy, its the bite and hold action shes withdrawing from, get a tug toy or something covered in a bunny skin and play tug with her, get her to really sink her teeth into it and try to pull it out of your hands,,after she get used to that , introduce a squeaking noise during the game, until she used to the squeaking , while playing best of luck,,

yes it seems shes soft natured but there will be a wee demon waiting to come oot,just be patient,i reckon she,ll come good,

have you tried starving her before you take her out, sounds a bit cruel but give her a few runs she should hold on to the rabbit out of sheer hunger could be worth a try.atb trigger

had to starve a dog of mine once to get him to catch a certain quarry once i got him started he was fine afterwards.

Id hold her bacvk for a good long time while the other dogs watch dont speak to her or give any attention.Eventually she will be puuling your arm off to go join in plus hopefully she will be hyped enough to do what you want her too
