jonansuki 21 Posted October 28, 2010 Report Share Posted October 28, 2010 OK so ive got a 15/16 month old bitch have been doing a bit of work her since about 9/10 months old but as she has got older have been going out with her 4 times a week she has never caught a rabbit but will bite them until they squeal then lets go she is not from working lines i have 3 kids all under 3 and have noticed that when she plays with the kids if they scream the dog will stop playing an get in bed i just cant seem to get her to work ive tried rabbit skins and she has watched other dogs takin rabbit and ran along side them while they have caught just don't know what else to try coming to a point now were i want to give up with her also she was raised around house rabbits up until 6 weeks old she is proper fully trained i don't even have to talk to her i can just point and she will follow my finger left an right sit lie down roll over etc. what else can i try or is she a lost cause any help will be a bonus thanks Quote Link to post

jonansuki 21 Posted October 28, 2010 Author Report Share Posted October 28, 2010 i tried dead rabbits an if the other dogs have caught we cut em up in field an feed her them straight away she not really interested in dead ones compared to the other dogs i have patience to but it just feels like she doesn't want to hunt and wants to be a family pet im gutted cos thats all i want to do but cant force her into it she is a collie/ whippet/ grey was thinkin of giving her to my mum so i can still see her and start again either with a pup or an older dog but then i will be taking on someone elses problem Quote Link to post
davey 310 Posted October 28, 2010 Report Share Posted October 28, 2010 Try just taking her out with other dogs and not let her run just watch other dogs do this a couple of nights then after a week if your mates dog brings one back live to hand let her play with it.
