jo54 255
i have only one dog at the moument and have been doing a lot af lamping recently which puts a lot of strain on my bitch as shes takeing the full work load herself and iv noticed shes not running to her usual standard after a few weeks of nearly every second night lamping. how long should a dog b allowed to rest up or do yous advise any thin else to build her up? how long you going out for each night? and what X is your dog? 3-4 hours average but i do have longer nights. shes 3/4 whippet 1/4 beddy which suits the ground im running but looking at her behaviour she dosnt loose her drive shes just not at the constant quick pace she was? nothing to worrie about heavily worked dogs dont look over impresive especially on the rabbits mate, like you said they lose there quick pace and tend to catch most of there quarry on the hedge. what you should find is as she has steadied up her :thumbs:running style will chance a bit, and what she lacks in her normal pace she will make up for by using her brain. as long as you are running her sensible she should be able to take the work load. if you are worried you are doing to much instead of going out every other night from time to time rest her for two nights then take her out again. if you have a reel good night and you work her alot harder than normal then give her a good rest up. at the end of the day mate only you know your dog. atb trigger dog ran well again to night never missed much must had off night Quote Link to post
