_Sean_ 15 Posted October 28, 2010 Report Share Posted October 28, 2010 i have only one dog at the moument and have been doing a lot af lamping recently which puts a lot of strain on my bitch as shes takeing the full work load herself and iv noticed shes not running to her usual standard after a few weeks of nearly every second night lamping. how long should a dog b allowed to rest up or do yous advise any thin else to build her up? Blue one 89 Posted October 28, 2010 Report Share Posted October 28, 2010 If you are lamping her that much, then i would give her a week off, just light excersise every day, then go back and lamp her just 2 to 3 times a week max. If you are lamping a lot of rabbits, like anything from 15 to 30 a night, and need another dog, then prehaps investing in another good pup, might take the pressure off your bitch in the future.. watchman 256 Posted October 28, 2010 Report Share Posted October 28, 2010 f**k me you lads must be hitting some numbers to sicken your dogs this early into the season,i could go out round here 5 nights a week and still never had that much quarry to sicken any dog yet,may get a few low doubles on the rabbits and the odd shot and retrieved here and there, just as well i suppose as that's good enough for me Quote Link to post
watchman 256 Posted October 28, 2010 Report Share Posted October 28, 2010 Well i think one should be able to be working 4/5 days out the week, With good grub, A warm bed, And a little care, Then iam sure the dogs would be fine, Look at MB for instance now thats a man that runs his dogs 5/6 aweek beside the landrover none of this driving about with them in the car to you see something then out it goe's, All night out with the landy running game... Some have it some dont Imho.... Me i only keep yappers and jackers so i dont care lol exactly what im getting at,dogs must be getting slipped on game that's in the next county lol Quote Link to post
