One ferret! How much to feed a day?

Recommended Posts

Lol! Now that is extreme!

In the past thats what people did mind aint it?

As you say, from what the post say, its everyones own choice realy.

But I will deff get some ferret dried to try out.

Tried all the different dried dog foods for Aladdin the Sal to taste, so why not give the ferret the same treatment.

Dont mind the cost, as long as Im'e not doing any harm.

Mine get mainly rabbit. One whole rabbit everyday, mostly gutted but a couple a week ungutted. One whole rabbit is gone before the days out (and the rabbits here are freakishly large monsters) leaving just some skin, a spine, a bare skull and little fur boots. To supplement this they also get pheasant (and other game birds), pigeon, squirrel, venison, trout and day old chicks. I'd definatly advise getting a big box of doc to stick in the freezer, i get a massive box for 8 quid. .. . .. lasts an age. Once in a blue moon they also occasionally get some James Wellbeloved dry ferret food, but i don't know why i bother.

oh i agree there, do not feed them dried dog food, thats a no no,

what % protine is ur ferret food? the car food i buy is breeder pack, its 32%

carnivores need meat protein not soya or veg protein.. the bags of cat food when purchased for less than 50 quid a sack tend to be soya protein which dosent keep the urine acidic enough which helps prevent crystals forming & clumping together to form stones

if however your using a meat protein based complete cat food then thats better than the veg / soya ones

Ok guys.

Ive got one ferret, he aint working at moment just keeping the Sal company as he grows up!

So as far as exercise is concerned he gets lenty when chasing the Sal around the garden, lol.

What do you recomend as an ideal amount daily, and when to feed him each day!

He has fresh water in the hutch every morning. As well as his bottle on the wire!

After I clean him out, while he and the Sal do their thing, I top up his dry food tray so there is always dry food available, and put his fresh in for when he goes back into the hutch!

Hi either has a chicken leg, mug of fresh mince, liver, dog food on rare occations, anything that the Sal is having himself that day!

But I am not shure as a complete ameture and being totaly nieve! How much I am supposed to make shure he has as far as quantity a day!

He is quite a big lad so he is not starving by any means!

Mate, sure he loves being out with the sal but sure he'd prefer a bit of ferret company too !!!
