lamping-lad 160
Something ive often thought about buying, but most people seem to say you are better off with a whippet, or buying a bed/greyhound. Still fancy one though, although i have heard they can struggle to keep up with the rabbit. May possibly get 3/4 whippet 1/4 bed. if it was my only dog then no way would i get one but to add to my three as an out an out daytime bushing dog it would be perfect it would be perfect for that youd have some good sport Quote Link to post
lamping-lad 160
Stewie, I run a F1 first cross Beddy Whippet (Dam Whippet). Great dog but - Not enough top end speed for hare, she gets the odd one or two, but regularly gets out run. She is a Ninja on redcoats, rats, rabits and running pheasants but hates working in brambles. Great little dogs but more of a ferreting alli or lamping dog, will run the flanks while bushing really effectively. I hope this helps. Check out the forum attached - I'm not on their much but if you want good working stock (dont bother with the show stuff) then not a bad place to start. Hope this helps. JP like that second pic Quote Link to post
beddycross 18
beddy whippet first cross are a class act they the best all round rabbittin dogs as they are great over any ground and whoever says they are short on pace is a complete fool i would defo recommend a first cross for any keen rabbitin man and if you dont spoil them they will take bigger prey just maybe not on there own , make no mistake they are harder than they look .......................................mines bread from a pedigree beddy bitch and a racer called milo that won everything up and down the country and she is a cracker . first and only litter will be coming spring 2011 as she is 4and half years old and willl use her last season or two of hunting to bring on the pup i keep .......... Hes a belter never gives up, just learning his turning now and learning to use his gears lol, the only thing with mine is he aint that fit atm so his stamina aint excellent but hes gettin there Quote Link to post
JollyPoacher 3
Never seen one struggle to keep up with Rabbit... Beddy Whippets have great speed, but they are not hare dogs, as I said they are fast enough to catch the odd hare or two but if you want an all rounder, get a Beddy x Grey. Opinions are like arseholes...everyones got them. Quote Link to post
samstorm 34
heres mine after a few hours out last night with the bullcross man and his dog, it was a cracking night, Quote Link to post

wuyang 513
So if i was to buy one would it be better to have the whippet as the bitch or the bedlington? Just there are two differences of opinion in the thread. Any ideas, also how do the bed/whip x bed/whip fair? 1 Quote Link to post
