as far as i read that, patterdales are not allowed to be docked. in wales at least. yet nearly every working terrier on here is a docked patterdale.

 

do you guys dock them yourselves or how do you manage to get them docked?

All you need is a letter from a land owner or someone with property that you do the pest control work for using a terrier,sg certs or fac's are not needed at all but a lot of vets want to see them,it does not say in the law how big the land needs to be,OR HOW SMALL .

Has anybody ever wondered how daft it is that a rabi can circumcise a baby but you have to jump through hoops to get a dog docked.

Just took my pup this morning to have his first jab at the vets. Had the docking certificate with me that came with him when I bought him and still had to listen to a ten minute lecture about the vets dislike for docked tails.

 

A friend of ours who had a young Jack Russell from a rescue was doing the same last year and because she didn't have the paperwork got threatened with the Police and had to prove where she had it from.

we dock lambs with rings, my local vet will do the terriers with a gun licence but i like to tell him what length because most vets do them far to short.

 

A he charges about £12 each..

What do i need to have my terriers tail docking at the vets.

 

Do you mean an adult dog??? They won't do an adult dog no matter what documentation you've got.
