The Emerald Isle

Recommended Posts

My other half spent her formative years in Ireland and is now trying to convince me to move there. I keep moaning about this country going to the dogs and this is strengthening her argument.....

We have two young children, a lurcher, four ferrets, some chickens and a veg garden (you can see what I do for fun). I work in I.T. so it looks like employment shouldn't be a problem.

So what's it like over there guys, the good and the bad?!

Thanks in advance,

Pyg.

I go every year, fishing, and i adore the place and the people. The wife wont leave her family, unfortunatley, otherwise i would have quit this shithole many years ago.If you have a genuine chance my friend, grasp it with both hands, this country is fast sinking into the shite.......its done for.

I am from ireland and have just moved back with english wife and 2 kids. Do not underestimate the differences in culture, you might laugh but things are dealt with differently here.

Do not underestimate the house prices, they are crazy too.

Good sides, all the hunting I am doing now and great food/drink :drink: so up to you

No! Ireland is lovely! :D

I used to go out with a lass from the west coast of Cork and spent a lot of time over there fishing and what have you. Love the place with a passion. Spent the 94 World Cup over there and it was a brilliant place to be. Watched the Republic in many bars and sunk many pints! When people asked where you were from and I said "Co. Durham" they all loved you due to Big Jack :drink::laugh:

My wife is from the north and even before the good friday agreement, I still felt safer there than I ever do in the south of England ;)
