Gaz_1989 9,539
I got my pup on Sunday from Rogue off here. He is roughly 1/2 Grey, 1/4 Saluki, 1/4 Whippet and is 7 weeks old tomorrow. I think he is super intelligent! The only pup ive ever tried to train was an English Bull, that was hard work and never really happened so maybe I'm just comparing to that? Ive had him 2 days, he is crate trained, as in I put him in there when I want him in and he only yaps for about 3 minutes before lying down. He barks when he needs to empty himself and goes straight to his cardboard by the back door. Then back into cage. He sits on command, % of the time. He will chase a cuddly toy, and now instead of ragging it to death and refusing to give it me, he gives it on the "give" command, again I sometimes have to repeat command. I'm trying to make it all as fun as possible and only having 5 minute training sessions so he dont get bored but he seems super intelligent for such a young pup. Are most lurchers intelligent as pups and keen to learn? Or have I got an extra clever one? Gaz Quote Link to post

thorny 100
Sounds like You have the same history as Me, we have kept Bull Terriers for more years than I care to remember. Stepped away from the breed due them having health problems. So we have gone like You completely different. We purchased a collie x greyhound 4 weeks ago. Like You he was clean in no time dry threw the night since he has been home. Sits, stays ect ect . I cant believe how easy he has been. I am still normally at the stop nipping My hands at 6 months old with a bully let alone sit, not a chance I have an old kennel dog who we could never get clean so thats why he is in a kennel. Even now at 8 years old as soon as You change His bedding he jumps straight in it and wee`s. Nut job So for Me its now lurchers all the way no looking back, and they just sleep all day, rather than trash everything "happy days" Thorny Quote Link to post
