iv herd that the mag`s are crap, and a mate of mine got one brand new and is was 4.6 ft lbs didnt cost him owt to get it fixed but still a pain in the ass. but alot of people have told be if you get one you wont 3/4 spear mag`s.

you do seem to read a lot about prolems with bsa pcps and people that have them and love them do seem to have them altered, the stocks on them are lovely though. my lad has a 400 classic and i have a 410 carbine its handy being able to fill them both with the same bottle/pump and both were second hand and both are very accurate and reliable and put bunnys in the bag. people that have the hw100 s rate them better than the aa s but i have only shot the aa s so cant coment on em. but would recomend the 410 carbine as you allready have a 400 :gunsmilie: you know what to expect.

I’ve shot all the rifles mate.

Only owned the HW100KT personally out of the 3.

Have just bought 2 Ultras, the multishot and the single shot but not used them yet.

The multishot is being given to a good friend of mine on here so I wont be shooting it anyway.

What I can say is that all the rifles (accuracy wise) are more accurate than anyone I know shooting them (fact).

Between the HW100 and the AA S410 its horses for courses or what ever the saying is with the HW a bit more expensive if purchased from new.

Both brilliant bits of kit and it really only goes down to how the rifle feels and fits the owners body to how people shoot with it.

People that buy a HW, S410, R10, Daystate Air Wolf or any top class rifle and get better groups and results with it say that the rifle is the best.

I agree to some extent but why do they shoot better with that particular rifle?

Body fit, weight and length to shooter, better suited pellet maybe, the person just likes the look of the rifle better and feels more confident with it, defo not the gun is more accurate.

The Ultra is a super carbine rifle and has its own uses where it’s better suited than the other 2 above, but no better and no way worse in anyway.

If shooting from a small car where space is tight the Ultra is well suited, if static hunting the Ultra is good as you don’t have to move the barrel far left or right to widen the shooting angle much due to the short length of the barrel.

If you’re a small framed shooter the Ultra is also well suited and so on.

It’s also very cheap in respect to the other above rifles but still performs in regards to hunting with the best out there if used correctly as witnessed by myself in Catterick with Reggaeman and his SS Ultra taking standing shots at squizzers in the KZ at 35 to 40 metres.

Don’t forget though that 99.9% of the time a rifle is made good by the shooter using it to his / her full extent, notice I didn’t say the rifles full extent.

If you can shoot true and straight with a SMK springer costing £140 and the guy next to you has all the gear and no idea but uses a £1200 Air wolf and cant hit anything he will automatically blame the rifle and try and swap or sell it, while the guy with the springer keeps on filling his game bag over and over again.

Regarding problems, all rifles will have a problem at some time in their life. The r10 has been slagged to bits on other forums (not the rifles fault) but BSAs for releasing it too early in my own opinion.

I was lucky to get a later model and mine is wonderful and has shot quite a bit of quarry in its time with me. I did have some bits and pieces changed to make me personally happier in regards to length and feel but I could have not had the work done and it still would have been a super rifle, but yet again no better or no worse that any of the above mentioned rifles.

My own thought on this Hunter is go out and try the 3 different models of rifle, see which one you feel happier with and see which one your body automatically tells you that this is the one. Which ever one you choose as long as you are happy with it and look after it and respect it it will serve you well.

I'm a dedicated spring gun shooter and a defiantly proud left-handed one at that. So my perfect, ideal rifle new year present would be a PAIR of Left Handed Air Arms PRO SPORTs in both calibres, in walnut, and both with the original tartan chequering (well, we all have dreams). But, as this is clearly a PCP thread, in all seriousness, I'd really love a left handed HW100 with the Bavaria stock. .22 or .177 no matter, I love shooting both calibres so it's no problem which it comes in!

Great post on gun fit and shooter-suitability there Si. Exactly why I love my HW80s and TX200s. I'm a big chap and they fit to me like comfy slippers

I have a s410k and to be truthfull all thoe it is light and accurate you get less shots than the one you all ready have if you are getting a new rifle I would get a completely different rifle all together mate but like zini says its horses for coarses I have just got my hw100kt and I dont shoot any better with it than my r10 I had but it just feels right for me where as the r10 never felt comftable for me and I dont know why but the hw100 is awsome(althoe I think its bloody ugly) mate and suites me to the ground.
