I collected my 7 week old pup yerstersay.

Saluki/Whippet/Grey bred by Rogue off here. Pups are a credit to him and I'm really pleased with mine.

He has fed them raw a few times a week and I want to

Continue this and probably end up on mostly BARF.

Ive just been to my local "butcher". It turns out he basically buys meat in and sells it on. Doesn't actually butcher anything :-s

The only "cheap" meat he had was best stewing steak, lol, so got the pup 2lb of that for 5 quid. And he had a tray of lamb bones which he said I could have for a quid.

No organ meat, no chicken wings, nothing.

Ive got a tesco bag full of lamb bones anyway. Looks like some breast of lamb. Not sure what the others are.

Is there any he can't have? And will a young pup be okay chomping on bones?

Not fed a young pup BARF before.

Thanks

Gaz

There is always a risk, i know 2 people that have lost dogs through raw feeding . .. . . BUT they were freak accidents.

I weaned my pups on raw last year and at three weeks old they were chewing on bones and eating flesh. If your worried, just give the pup the biggest of the bones until you get confident. Dogs can naturally deal with bones easily, they are also able to swallow huge pieces and hock them straight back up for finer chewing. The first time i gave my sisters dalmation bitch chicken wings at 9 weeks, she swallowed 7 wings whole, threw up 7 wings whole, and repeated the process 3 more times before finally settling down to chew them!

Butchers normally give you lots of little fatty sinews and hocks in with the bones, don't feed these if your worried and just let her have the big bones. She'll be fine.

Feeding pups bones is fine mate, but, don't leave him alone with them while he is so young, and it is never a good idea to give them leg bones, but,as you said breast bones neck bones etc is a fantastic bit of grub for a dog.Good luck with him..........Martin

Deer heads are brilliant for them, they will eat the whole lot given the time...........
