new gun

Hi all,

 

This is the first post ive done on here and I would be intrested in your thoughts on my new gun, I saved up all last years pheasant shooting money and the money I get from working at North Wolds Gun Club were I ship all the clays about to the different traps. So I went and bought a BSA Ultra Multi shot in .177 I liked because it is a lot lighter then some ive shot but the silencer is a bit poor, is this normal for the multi shot? also with this years beating money I want a new scope can any one suggest somthing for £150 ish and maybe with a bit of luck santa might get me it, but I have being a bit bad so will probably just getting coal! oh well!

haha good lad, sounds like you have worked hard enough so santa should take that into account! well im no expert but i have a hawke map pro on my s410. its doing its job but couldnt give you a better account as i havent had it long. some great lads on here and im sure by the end of this thread you will have all the information you need. welcome to forum mate and good luck mick

Hi mate, the standard silencer on the Ultra is awful, I don't think many serious Ultra users use them. They unscrew easily though, and the barrel is threaded so fitting a new one is a piece of cake. I personally use a Weirhauch silencer on mine, and it does the business. There's several good silencers out there though. How about you save that £150, splash £50 on a new silencer and the rest on the scope?

Firstly welcome to the site mate!

 

Some good advice there.....As there always is on here!!

 

Try contacting DavyT or spike25blue off here, as they are selling a very very good silencer called the Twink MKII by A & M Custom Gunsmiths for a very good price and will transform your Ultra no end and also leave you plenty change for a decent scope.

 

Keep us informed with your decisions mate as we'd all like to know how youre getting on, also a nice writeup and some photos of your exploits would be good too :thumbs:

Welcome aboard Owen.

 

I've not had the pleasure of shooting the Ultra yet, but that is set to change at Xmas

The Twink comes in "VERY HIGHLY" recomended, by those that have them. As do a few others such as the HW's and SAK's.

I currently use a modified Air Arms Silencer on my S200 and sometimes if I'm in the mood to change, I have a custom made UKNiel one.

 

Scopes? Soooo many to choose from but have a look at the Hawke range http://www.hawkeoptics.com/

Look under RifleScopes.

Welcome to the forum mate, as said above the Sak,weirauch and twink are all very good. im sure if you ask about someone might have a second hand one going. as for scopes there is loads around, get to your local shop and put a few on your gun and try them all out see which one you like the most.

I know your uncle very well (Mark Vining) has does quite a few regulars on here.

 

He's a top bloke

 

He as told me all about you and what a good shot you are buddy, especially when it comes to ratting.

 

Due to the fact that your uncle as been so good to me in the past and let me stay in his caravan and shoot on his farm i will repay the kindness by giving you my SAK silencer for free.

 

It will fit straight onto your Ultra and i can promise you that it will make it very quiet indeed.

Ill get it posted to you as soon as i get back from exercise in the UK on Saturday buddy, so it will be with you by the middle of next week.

 

Call it a Christmas present from me and Laura my girlfriend as Mark and Emma have been so kind to us in the past.

Whilst im on the subject of good scopes i recommend the Hawke Sport HD 4-12x50 AO IR with the mildot reticule.

 

You get them from Uttings air rifle and they retail at £53.99

 

Im getting 1 for my new Ultra too mate.
