Dodger mate you don't need any saluki blood in that mix,imo the acd has more stamina, better feet and a dam sight more brains.

used to love working with cattle dogs or cattle kelpie xs the cattle would respect the dogs in those days, Now days its all hobbie farmers that dont own a dog and hand feed their cattle. A little while back I was invited on to a place to sort some foxes while working a paddock with my dogs a mob of yearlings ganged up and did their best to push me and my dogs out of their paddock just no respect LOL so I grabbed the stockwhip from my ute and changed their minds. Never needed to do this back when cattle dogs were the the working dog of choice and every place had one or three.

its always ax ACDXGREY, that liked  , didnt think they would have more stamina than say colliexgrey x salukixgrey for a hard nights lamping(20-30)runs.? But if they have would make a brill lamp dog, being tough, fast agile, brains. and as above not sure if you can get good working dogs in this country or lines.??

Yes there are still plenty around the big places some love them and others prefer to use kelpies and boarder collars or xs between any of the three.

one fellas place I hunt with a cousin is about 20thousand acres the cocky only runs cattle dogs the nahbours a property of about the same size the guy only has kelpies bred for cattle work. So its just like any thing else really.

Cheers. Its good to know their is still some working how they are ment to over their in Austrailia.

I have been doing some research since and as Bird says above, the working ones are very rare or none, in the uk and Ireland!

Shame, i think it would be a good cross.!

I had one. Was given her at about 18 months because she upset the neighbours where she was before.

She was kc reg and dont think she had seen a cow before I had her.

Worked cattle well but her forte was hunting. Got into places the terriers thought twice about! Caught more than her fair share in her time as well!
