rusty 0
if i,m going ferreting i put a light quilt jacket on mine with the velcro straps it will pull off then if he gets stuck i also have some towels in the back of the car to give them a good rub down when i,ve finished. witton 6
My half whippets are fine when walking in the cold and rain but dont like sitting in it. They also will not go into water not even puddles no matter how shallow if it looks like water then they wont walk in it. They are kenneld together with out any heating and are fine. Iv lamped with mine on really cold windy nights were it is pelting it down with rain and they are fine just the odd winge when standing still for a bit. David Quote Link to post
IanB 0
One of my dogs has a really thin coat, he's normally got a jacket on him in the run when the weathers as it is...if hes out hunting, hes never stood around much, to get really cold. Quote Link to post

Guest Frank
My young whippet pup ( 4 months) does not seem to mind the cold too much and she dived into a river yesterday , but i think that was over excitment, as she was a wee bit taken back, but not too bad. She runs threw shallow rivers, mudy feilds ect with no problem and sleeps out in the shed on a straw bed, although i do put a heat lamp over her on cold nights. Frank. Quote Link to post

Pennymeadow Whippets 0
Whippets who live outside from birth or early life handle the cold very well they don't like to be wet through & cold though as for living outside i put a pig lamp above mine when the temp drops below freezing never had any problems while the dogs are working The Brindle Bitch is Our Molly Of Parkstone at 10 years old Quote Link to post

Or..... ask for "Aerodeck" it's insulation already glued to plywood and usually foil backed, it comes in various thicknesses and has a higher U value than polystyrene. Quote Link to post
Guest Frank
PW is right, its what they are use to. My pup was born outside, was brought up outside, so she handles the cold better. Frank. Quote Link to post
