I had a similar thing happen to me in a wood one day when it was very windy, the dog just couldn't hear me for the noise, thought he was gone in a rocky hole, but fortunately i walked him in the same area all the time and he had lost me and headed back to the car, little bugger was sat waiting for me. was the worst feeling ever when i couldn't find him. A coat and food left out where you last saw it would be a good idea as has been said. good luck

Hey guys and gals Ive found her 14 miles from home in Scunthorpe someone had found her on the roadside took her to the vets for the once over,and got some cream for her eye and then taken her home kept her over night and the started ringing around,and luckily Id done all the right things regarding contacting me,

longest 30hrs ever feeling US,

Fecking well happy there is some nice people out there still
