Air rifle, 45 metre, 5 shot group, shooting competition

Hi all,

I have been thinking today after some filming that I did at the weekend about starting a competition thread on here.

The comp is open to anyone, hopefully it will bring new blood into our section from the marksman in the other sections.

The idea is to run the competition until the end of the pheasant shooting season 1st Feb. 2011.

The rules of the comp:

1. Only sub 12 ft / lb air rifles can be used.

2. Your zero range must not be further than a lased 32 metres / 35 yards.

3. You must produce a 5 shot group at a lased 45 metres / 49 yards, 50 yards maximum for the imperial shooters.

4. You must video a single shot at you zero range (proved by tape measure or LRF) prior to keeping the camera rolling and shooting your group live on camera.

5. No editing of any sort is aloud at all. (Any editing will not count).

6. Your group range must also be proved by tape or LRF. (1 tape and 2 targets prior to shooting a single shot is advised).

7. Once you have shot your group you must measure it on camera close up using a ruler or some measuring tool that can be seen on camera.

8. Once it as been measured a small item such as UK money or drawing pins must be used to cover the group to show a representation of its size in relation to small every day items.

9. Groups must ONLY be placed on this thread to count.

10. After the 1st Feb 2011 the best group will be awarded to the person with the tightest group.

11. That person will then be crowned the Section / HLF Group shooting champion.

12. Only one group per member is aloud.

13. Bean bags, sandbags or bipods can be used to shoot the group, but no Black and Decker work mates of gun vices are aloud. (Your own integrity is needed here chaps).

14. Any calibre from .177 to .25 is allowed to enter.

Anyone up for the challenge?

Si

Hi Zini, great idea, other questions:

benchrest forestock only - ie bipod, beanbag etc - No rigid gun rest used ,like those some of the target chaps use which is effectively a vice!

Obviously the video should be Unedited from the start of zero at 32m/35yd through to the finished group at 45m - i mention this because not everyone will have a scope cam, and therefor be unable to show the hold over on the reticule, hence confirming the initial zero range.

I think that entrants should post their best group only to keep the thread clutterfree and save the websites bandwidth.

And yes Si, Im up for it.

Hi lads Ive now edited the original post to show the new added rules in regards to your valid points.

Last date for a group shot on the video is the 31st Jan 2011 buddy.

First prize is the fact that you can strut your stuff on this forum knowing that your the best group shot.
