THE GRIFF 8
Good look mate, you might want to take a rake with you as well to clear the holes, I was out on sunday and lots of leaves and thorny twigs covering the holes. Dont forget to post how you got on. Quote Link to post

dicky82 1
after much pushing of the snooze button i got up at 7.30, got the brother up, loaded the nets, shovel, wellies, ferrets, ferret finder and brother into the van. headed to the permission. answered all the brothers stupid questions, set up the nets collars on ferret, test the finder, battery dead. drove to a petrol station got a new battery, back to the permission, finder is now working, ferret in the hole and the waiting game insued. she popped her head out of every hole we had covered and aqppeared out of holes yards away. she hunted for about half an hour and nothing bolted. i rested her up for a minute and sent the other ferret in. she did the same, and appeared out of other holes we never saw. i have 20 nets and had 20 holes covered but nothing bolted. packed up and moved to the next spot. same craic here, 20 holes coverd, ferrets in. nothing bolted. we tried one other spot and nothing there either. we hunted each set for about 40 mins. sending the ferrets in differant holes etc. not a sniff. i know there are bunnies on the permission because the springer flushes them when we walk through. anyway for my first time out it was great craic all the same, was really pleased with the ferrets, they relished the chance to work through the burrows and i didnt use the finder once. bit disappointed with no quarry but cest la vie. johnboy19 38
Not to worry mate, there will be plenty more outings. Before i started ferreting i put the ferrets through some empty burrows first just to get them used to is, you have effectively done that but by accident John Quote Link to post
