Perch are a perfectly good bait for pike... Try to use the predominant species in the water you are fishing for the pike... i have had instances where i have had deadbiat perch out on waters were they have never been touched... Yet roach(which abund in the water) go everytime mate... this doesnt apply to all waters obviously but does help...... where abouts are you, could do with my livey tanks being filled up!! lol good luck young man. I' d put money it wasnt down to a pike angler... And for big pike to die through a desease carried by other fish is a very strange thing.. I have cleared many waters of deseased fish in my days...They were never down to anglers....We caught a few lads on Chew(on the very first day of opening).. We caught them on bough beach and llangdenfed, it goes on pal... Your preaching to poachers mate on here, not the ideal place... I am not saying do it. He asked the question mate...
