comanche 2,948
The baby dog was pretty certain that this drain under a gateway was concealing goodies . Unfortunatly it was full of water and not having an otter handy I had to lower the water-level by clearing the ditch on the down stream side to have any chance of persuading a ferret to enter . Nets down ,ferret in and ping ! I have to come clean and admit that there turned out to be two bunnies up the pipe and the second one having waited for his mate to fill the net made good his escape from the open hole . He managed to evade the lazy-net stretched over the track but made the mistake of diving into a blind hole from which extraction required but a few minutes work with the spade . Not quite ferreting at its purest but it added interest to the day and the baby dog was very proud of himself . Edited October 17, 2010 by comanche 1 Quote Link to post

stealthy1 3,964
It may not have been ferreting at its purest, but it still put you two in the bag Quote Link to post

comanche 2,948
neither rabbit look very wet in the pics Good mark from the dog Y.I.S Leeview Well spotted Watson . But. The rabbits-cunning devils - were utilising a small raft. Originally built for their now -aborted attempt to be the first rabbits to reach Iceland on a boat powered by a sail made of dock leaves this craft now resides in the Ray Mears Museum as an illistration of the traditional skills lost by modern rabbits through watching television and working in the cosmetic research industry . I guess the bunnies were up the dry end which meant I had to put the ferret in the wet end (I know what I mean ) so as to get behind em. Edited October 18, 2010 by comanche Quote Link to post

The rabbits were obviously up the dry end which meant I had to put the ferret in the wet end (I know what I mean ) so as to get behind em. my point was the rabbits did nt go in the wet end and would of come out the same way they went in as your picture shows Y.I.S Leeview Quote Link to post
Bushwacker 13
When I was a kid there was a drain, similar to that one, in the field behind our house. There were often a few rabbits in it. We used to peg a large sprout sack (the green net ones that sprouts go to market in) over the end of the pipe. The most rabbits out in one go was 4. The one 8,469
Stick a lenght of fence wire threw the pipe and leave it there and any time you see a rabbit in it stick on some twigs etc on one end of the wire and pull it threw from the other end easy way to bag a rabbit and it always in the pipe till you need it Quote Link to post
