I would rather pay someone £60 £70 £ for a pup where the breeding is honest and no poor lies about what the parents have done and still doing.   Some people believe that because a certain name may

i bred my bitch to a full saluki and paid £250 stud fee. the pups were fed the best of everything wormed from 3 weeks on .heat lamp on them permanantly for weeks plus £100 in fuel to go to the stud dog twice .and £1oo on adverts plus on bone meal from 3 weeks on oh and spent hours a day socialising them ready for their new homes . then jabs on top and you expect one of them for nothing boys get in the real world your having a laugh .my son and son in law had one each for nothing and the rest were sold for £250 each less a bit of luck money and every buyer was over the moon with them at that money. and i could have sold them all twice over .good well bred pups that have had the best of everything that money can buy you should never expect for nothing .

i believe if someone is willing to pay for a pup they are usually going to think more of if and look after it i have sold some on here the people settle at £100 but when they came for the dogs i gave them money back which they didnt expect and i told them it wasnt about the money it was more to make sure the dog got a good home i recently offered one on this site to somebody who had to have theirs pts again it was the fact that this person as soon as they knew there was a problem went straight to the vets and got the dog the help it needed they didnt spend days on here asking what people thought they should do and i know with these people this dog will have a good home

Having seen a lot of topics on here regarding Lurcher breeding,Puppy Prices, stud Prices and so on,was interested in everyone opinion on the cost of a Lurcher puppy.

I know that some are obviously going to be given away to mates kept for yourself and so on but the remainder of the litter, what would You charge, everyone is different in their approach to breeding lurchers and how much they spend on rearing a litter, which would obviously effect the cost of the pups.

The last litter of lurchers I bred was over Two Years ago and I was fortunate to gain the services of a cracking Greyhound to use over my German Shepherd bitch, however the time and effort I spent rearing the litter I think I ended up doing it for the love of it,When You add up the costs on top of that of Worming tablets Parvo jabs food again I am fortunate I have a food mincer and a regular source of flesh and bone but it still takes time to mince it up.

I would say I spent a good three hours per day on average doing something with the litter.

So lets just say average litter of lurchers no stud fee costs how much per pup

p.s I haven't got any to sell just interested what everyone thought and how much did You pay for yours

Thus makes me laugh chronic.

There are lads on her saying "vie never bred a littter but if I did they would be free"

I bred a littler recently from my own good stock as mates said they wanted some, i wanted a bitch and I basically had 3 to find Homes for. 9 pups later, and 4 mates jibbed with an all manner of excuses (tossers)

These pups had the best fresh food for nearly 9 weeks, and i added up it cost me around £500 to feed and worm etc.....they were socialised well and proper with my other 10 dogs, and all toilet trained aswell.

I started at £250 then dropped to £150 and guess what?

One of the pups who went free to a mate (who's on here) he moved the dog on within 4 weeks of having her! Suffice to say he can go feck himself now, and if I ever do decide to breed another litter in the future I will ask everyone for the full £150 and if they still have the dog in their kennels at 12 months old, I'll give them their money back!

Would you begrudge a mate who's fed the pups on a diet of best flesh, socialised em, jabbed em and cared for them day and nite a few quid for his efforts? If you would then you don't deserve the pup IMHO.

£150 for a pup that you can have working for say 8 years (injury permitting) works out (cost of buying) at 36 pence per week! Where else can you get a loyal companion, hunter and mate for that price eh??

what a lot a shite mate, i have bred pups, an they were rehomed free, i also had stud fees, wormers, an grub an heat lamps to pay for, but they still went to mates, free, an when i say mates, i mean mates....

not the type a person you have just described, booking a pup, pulling out then wanting 1 when the price is dropped

cos they wouldnt be my mates for long,

keep it real guys, if you dont trust someone, dont gee them a pup, an if ye dont know them, 150/500 notes aint enuff tae make me think they will look after it... just dont work like that, look at the rescue centres all sorts of kc registered dogs in them, an they dont come cheap :icon_eek:

Err

Me no comprenda! Mates had pups for free, and tear are good mates (where) and they pulled out, and like I said one even moved the pup on (would you have given him a slap?)

If I could have, all 9 go for free to good mates then I wouldn't have given a toss what it cost me to breed, just that some see fit to take the piss.

One lad who I charged for a pup, he came over with his mrs, I took em to the pub, paid for a meal & drinks, then took em lamping with my dog, them the day they were coming to collect the pup I took em ferreting with the dam.

How much more could I do? And as this lad and his mrs were a young couple, when they gave me the money I gave it em back as I could see a real genuine love for the pup and I knew it would be there till the day it dies.

And thats someone I didn't know inside out.

Like I said I I ever breed again (unlikely unless 1 for myself and a hard cull) then it will be full money and they can have it back in 12 months if they still gave the dog.

Sad fact that when stuffs free it can get moved on etc...

I'm just saying, the Lurcher/working dog field doesn't need to
