Hunting Lad 50
How olds the pup mate? Its obviously not ready for the rabbit skin yet. Just go back to the using the dummy for a while then try again with the skin in a month or two.... If its ripping it off its best off stopping as it will just keep doing it... Dan Outdoors 13
He's twelve months, brings a normaly dummy to hand then I give him a treat, he caught a few rabbits a couple months back n would just lick n bite them so I went back to basics, got the retrive better n better, maybe he's just doin it coz it's new to him, he's very obediant just gets exited, it's hard to explain but the more dangly bits hangin from the dummy ( that sounds bad) the more he plays rather than concentrates, any way of making the dummy more durable?? thanks chaps Dan Quote Link to post

Mick C. 229
Had the same problem Ithink its because a rabbit fur is very close to the real thing it does get better with time. My pup has just started catching rabbits and the same thing has happened again. It is getting better. Ithink the problem will sort itself out when the dog is fully familiar with the fur. I still throw a ball which he will retreive all day long. Ithink this helps to keep the recall strong Quote Link to post
