lampinglurcher 36
"the only real bull is the pit, all others are just substitutes" ... thats just plain ignorance. Quote Link to post
ReggieCuz 18
if we're talking about dog fighting I'd probably agree. I'm not a dogfighter but the choose pits for a reason. But I've used pits for pig hunting and I've found they fight the pig, not hold it. I'd rather use an EBT or a staff for pigging. Quote Link to post
j1985 1,983
Here's a pup of mine. He's 11 months old now and seen a bit but nothing much. Full standard/performance bred AB, not many like him over here..Infact probably around 30 I'd say. He'd definately turn a few of you that think all AB's are shite and so would any dog from his line. Which line is he? This is mine at 7 years old, even as a bully hybrid he is capable of working but there is nothing legalliy in the uk to test these dogs. Quote Link to post

tracyb - Doglost 1
I've met pure pits & they are fantastic dogs. Staffies I will defend to the end. Never met a better, loyal, friendly dog. As with all of them its the idiot on the other end of the lead that's the issue. We've now got idiots crossing staffies, with am bulls, mastiffs, boxers -to make something that looks like a pit. Then they rrealise its crap and dump them- so they end up in the pound. The proper old time chunky little staffies are rare, now we have 'staffies; that are anything from 14" to knee height. any dog can be trained and as the true dog men know- the more you put into a dog- the more you get out. One of the rescue I homed loves nothing more than racing though rough grass, he's like lighting, and would take back to work tomorrow. Keep these dogs doing what they love- but please dont re breed staffies- unless you have homes lined up. Our pounds are full to bursting with dumped staffies, staffi x - for want of a better word. Have to be careful around the word 'pit' one cos most dont recognise them & the ones that do will get them pts Quote Link to post

Unless the last three generations of this dog have been "checked out" ,you dont know for sure what you have.......pedigrees dont do work. Quote Link to post
j1985 1,983
Thanks for that great comment lol It's quite insulting that you think I would own a dog and not know his ped inside out...Trust me, I know more about his ped than I do my own!! I have either spoke to the breeders of 90% of the dogs in his ped upto 4 or 5 gens in person, on the phone, via email or even letter. But I know unless I was there at every breeding how would I know for sure and all that.. Only time will tell how he turns out. Edited November 17, 2010 by j1985 Quote Link to post
