When people say bull, most people hear "Pit Bull", and they are nasty dogs, even when kept by the best owners in the world. It's down to the short temper. Most dogs will warn before attacking, a pit bull will go from completely calm seeming to full on, out to kill attack mode with no warning in between.

 

Staffies, which most people think are the same, are a completely different kettle of fish. A temper a mile long, and they will run away and hide rather than hurt someone. Even when cornered they will try not to hurt humans. Dogs on the other hand, are fair game.

 

I have a staff x lab, and he's completely mental, but wouldn't hurt a human for the world. He plays rough though, as all terriers do, and some dogs don't appreciate that, and it can turn into a bit of a snarling match!

 

Pit Bulls are banned because they are f#####g dangerous, especially with the types that tend to own them.

is a yorkie or russell/lakey/patt or border any less dangerous

pit bulls undoubtably do more damage when they attack but dogs like ive said will bite or try to bite on a lot more regular basis you just dont hear about it but when one pit bites the whole world hears about it

and hears a FACT for you matt more ppl in britain are bitten by golden retrievers and labs and collies than what they are from pit bulls

Cant help myself here!.....Pit Bulls running the yard , 2 or 3 with no altercations, and a bit of bristling at being confronted......HOGWASH!....I ran fast lane pit dogs for many years, and, NO WAY, did they get along or not try kill each other in seconds after sighting the other. I'm talking mature dogs over a year or so old once they think they are a big dog.....To suggest other wise tells me you either dont know what your talking about or had shitty pit bulls......RARE would be a well bred pit bull that would NOT fight quickly.....Im speaking from experience, not just blowin smoke.I've been around most every line of Pit Bill in the states, and ,the same rules apply to all......Staffs I've heard are a little more easy going, but, I really don't know except by word of mouth........

I CAN ONLY SPEAK FOR THE DOGS I OWNED, WHEN THEY RAN THE YARD I WAS WITH THEM. SO ARE YOU SAYIN THAT DOGS CANNOT BE SOCIALISED WITH EACHOTHER?

WHAT ABOUT THOSE THAT RUN THEM ON HOGS AND SUCH?? THEY SEEM TO BE ABLE TO RUN MORE THAN 1 OR 2 TOGETHER??

I've trained pits/staffs/am staffs for man work etc and even trained well i would choose a decent shep over them anytime. Generally speaking they have very little human aggression.. short temper? what are you on boy ive seen kiddies pulling them around and jumping all over them. Not even a growl. Iv known more staffs be DA then any pitbulls iv heard of or seen in person and my uncle bred them for a while pre-ban. The major difference is once a pitbull has decided enough is enough you've got a battle on your hands if your not top dog in its eyes. To say they are bad with humans is just retarded, they were bred to fight other dogs where people would intervene and no person would want mauling by mistake so dogs that were good with people were selectively bred. Male and female together can be manageable as long as watched closely.....Pits running hogs are raised that way, and have to be hand chosen for the task at hand.......MOST pit bulls are fine with people ,and, the nasty ones you hear about are the exception or trained to be human aggresive.......The majority are hell on anything with fur, but, great companions.

I had dogs from (now deceased) Maurice Carver and Bert Clouse directly,continued on they were the main lines I used....These dogs were WINNERS against all comers, not paper tigers......Used and respected.....Enuff for this board......

as ive said about 100 times on here no such thing as a bad dog its the wankers that own them havent a clue how to bring up one of these dogs ive been brought up round sbt,s all my life and i wouldent have another dog about me yea the dont like other dogs but they were breed for fighting but if you give them plenty of socialisation from a young age you shouldent have a prob
