Urban Fox Control London 8
Not trying to make you suck eggs, but I trust you have the means to humanely dispatch what you catch. Also, making sure the traps are checked on a regular basis incase you catch a non-target such as a cat / hedgehog etc. Make sure that there is water in the trap (The Animal Welfare Act 2006). You really have to cover your back on every aspect, especially it the RSPCA are looking for an example to pin up. Anyway, here we go........... Cat food (Felix is good), cubed mild cheddar cheese, sugar doughnuts, jam sandwiches, boiled eggs / raw eggs, dog biscuits (markies are good), butcher scraps, southern fried chicken is good too. Try to pre-bait first with the trap door held up with cable ties to get the foxes interest and confidence, then set the trap to trap. I only deal with urban foxes which are quiet easy to trap as long as they haven't already been trapped and dumped by a The urban foxes then become wise and trap shy. You won't get them in their even if you put a fit vixen in there !!!!! (Joke, I don't do that). If you are trapping 'rural foxes', I think it is a different cup of tea. Good luck. bigadg 5
i always find the traps work better when the bait is rotten and stinking stu Quote Link to post
Urban Fox Control London 8
You are 100% correct there. The 'higher' the better. Quote Link to post
dave1372 83
i always find the traps work better when the bait is rotten and stinking stu ..... I agree. I have found that pork liver (as it is the cheapest) is great. It stinks anyway but even more when you just leave it in the packet for a few days. On oneoccasion I have forgotten this until the packet literally expanded until it burst open and I wondered what the hell had I left dead in the car lol ! Then realised it was the bait.  Quote Link to post
Urban Fox Control London 8
Now there's a treat for Mr Fox. I get Pig's liver from Tesco's on a Friday, leave it in the van over the weekend for Monday. The smell is putried and really does work well. Most packs are around 0.64p each and all you need to do is carefully peel the top open and slide the tray in the trap as demonstrated on BBC1 Countryfile 3rd of October 2010 Quote Link to post
