dafydd thomas 13
load of bollocks most vets are rip off merchant crooks. hernia may have been handed down through genetics but could have just as easiy done by an un experienced bitch pulling on the umbilical cord a bit too hard at birth. sorting an umbilical hernia shouldnt cost more than £50 and is a piss easy procedure for a decent experienced vet atb dt
littlefish 587
there are 3 different types of hernia ... umbilical ... inguinal .... and diaphragmatic ... umbilical are genetic and passed down through pups ... the reason you shouldnt breed from these pups is because unlike the other 2 hernias the umbilical one has to be surgicaly repaired and can cause complications if the pup is a bitch and she is bred later on in life ... she/he will also pass this on to futer pups they sire/birth ........ Yes - there are different types of hernias and each dogs hernia is an individual case, varying in size, position etc. My dog has an umbilical hernia from he was a pup, it has never changed in size and he has had no trouble from it, but it was always something I kept an eye on as he grew. Sections of bowel can become strangulated, causing problems
