RicW 67
What a superb operation. Hats off to the Chilean Government and engineers. And to the guys who were down there. Did you see that one of the rescue team went down first to set up the rig? What a man. That solidarity used to prevail in the British coal mining industry. No politics in this thread, but there is something very special about mining men. Ric
poacher3161 1,766
Emotional scenes and a fantastic outcome.I hope the miners plight will bring better and stricter safety working practises for the rest of their fellow comrades who work through out the world in different types of mines.Plus i hope they milk this story for all its worth and all of them and their familys become financially secure

Ric As the son of a miner i have to agree, even now after ten or so years retired when you get a gang of ex-miners thouse who worked together they share an almost brother like bond. And as a union man myself watching on tv did bring a tear to my eye, unusual these things turn out well but thank god it did. Jambay
