Guest whitser
happy xmass comrades first of all. had two good digs last week but i still went home disappointed cos dennis my young terrier didn't have a good first day at proper work underground. he failed to find in the first earth which was live, we got a dig from it with D's bitch. the second earth he came out after 20 mins soaking wet and dis heartened. we dug that with a more experienced terrier. when we got to the vermin it was out under the river in a tight saturated spot behind a large boulder, it was a hard dig for any terrier never mind a novice who never met anything below ground. if i had known the earth went like that i wouldn't have entered dennis. any way as we were opening up to the terrier we had to make a clay damn around the holle to stop water flowing in. it would be good to hear that some of your terriers had crap first days only to become great workers in the end. TimJ 0
Whitser, an open coated dog like that is going to feel the cold soaking water through his skin in a hurry. Quote Link to post
celt 1
I wouldn't get disheartened, that second set sounds a really bad one for a pups second look. In fact a lot of terriers wouldn't fancy that situation so bear that in mind, is that black dog the pup? How old is the pup and has he been out before? Quote Link to post
