Vhd is a nasty little disease,unlike mixy were you see the rabbits infected,This just seems to wipe them out.You can go to a spot one weekend and run your dog a lot,go back the next week and it would be like there was never a rabbit there.The time it takes for a rabbit to die is hours,if you find a dead rabbit with a little ring of blood round its arse thats vhd.

that sounds a bit scary...is it man made ? how is it spread ? can you eat the rabbits infected ?

i spend a lot of time in the yorkshire dales plenty of easy rabbits and farmers only to willing to help out with permission,theres many a bed and breakfast and i stay at a place called Heather Cottage B&B near Aysgarth Falls when where doing long nights and ferreting,

like i say speak to the farmers there sick of the rabbits there,

I heard leyburn is crawling with rabbits, seemingly there aren't any good lurchers in that area......

i got a decent whippet mate,but we shoot em as well. theres loads they dont even run fast anyone with 2 half decent dogs would take a hundred in a night,easy pesey

ive herd ov this but;i thinck its more to do with winter we have just had,rabbits have never seen a winter like the one just past,for about 5 years they dont live that long anyway? didnt know to look at blood on rabbs nice one :notworthy:

Hi all. New to THL and trying to get back in to Lurcher work. Recently moved to Doncaster area. Have new pup at 15 months and not been out yet with him. Local land seems too dodgy. Any ideas or help gratefully recieved. Thanks.

go out nd look for rabbits wi lamp,no dog or owt just lamp once you find land with rabbits on.next day try asking local farmer for perrmish on it.as far as i know its not breaking any laws to look for where the rabbits are.an the only thing bad the farmer can say is no or words on them lines, :icon_redface:

mmmm, leyburn hey, been there years back,i will try nd rid the pace ov the bunnys,wots the farmers, like for permish any idears?? :tongue2::whistling:
