Cervus and Reynard

Recommended Posts

Out with Ratcherman yesterday afternoon on his ground. Watched the edge of some woodland where a roe doe with triplets appeared followed by a nice 6 pointer. Ratch dropped him cleanly and was happy as his freezer is now full :boogie:

We then had a quick scout with the lamp and he also accounted for a nice healthy vixen.... :D

Charlie derives from the class squabbling and mockery back in the 18th century. The Whig politician, Charles James Fox, was often portrayed as the prey to the Tory "foxhunting classes".

Reynard isn't French for fox, that's renard (no Y). Reynard originated as a character in folklore, probably that of the Alsace-Lorraine, around the 12th century. The best bet for the origin of the name "Reynard" is from the German mans name Reginhardt.

So now you know! :whistling:
