Lurchers swimming

Anyone got any tips on how to teach/encourage a lurcher pup how to swim. I've got a 4 month old pup and I'm keen to get her swimming from an early age, mainly for exercise in the summer months. I've tried chucking a stick in but she'll run up to the edge and not go any further, I don't really want to throw her in because it might break her trust in me. What do people think? Is it a case of they'll either like the water or they won't? Or is there some way of encouraging them to jump in?

jump in first and call her if that don't work carry her out and let her swim to back to shore do that a few time it might build her confidence up, im not a expert just a suggestion hope this helps

Take her the beach mate and play with her in the shallows gradually getting deeper always worked for me with whippets & terriers (plus the salt water does their feet the world of good)

A aways start them early myself but a use the other dogs that works for me
