RAT SNAREING

Recommended Posts

WELL LADS ,

JUST A FEW PHOTOS OF MY LATEST CATCH OF RATS IN THE SPRING SNARES .......... IVE BEEN SNAREING THESE AT THE BACK OF SOME STABLES IN A DITCH THAT RUNS ALONG AND UNDERNEATH AN OLD HEDGEROW ............... FROM THIS SPOT IVE HAD 49 SO FAR IN THE LAST MONTH OR SO , SETTING THEM ONLY AT WEEKENDS WHEN IVE GOT THE DAY LIGHT ON MY SIDE , I SET THEM THIS AFTERNOON WHEN I RETURNED FROM WORK WHILST WALKING THE DOGS , POPPED BACK JUST AS IT WAS DRAWING IN DARK AND NOTICED I HAD TWO DANGLING :victory:

MY 49th FROM THIS SPOT PLUS A WEASEL 2 WEEKS AGO ........... THE TRIGGER MIGHT INTEREST SOME OF YOU LOT , I MAKE THEM FROM PLY 3/8 " AND IVE HAD NO PROBLEMS , VERY EASY TO MAKE OUT OF SCRAPS OF BOARD ......... IVE GOT 22 SET ON THIS HEDGE ALL WITH THE SAME PLY TRIGGER

I RAN OUT OF WANDS , SO CUT TWO ELDERS OUT OF THE HEDGE , NOT ONE OF MY BEST IDEAS :icon_redface:

ANYWAY HERES THEM RESET READY FOR SOME MORE

I HAVE MADE A FEW SMALLER TRIGGERS FROM 1/4 PLY AND IAM GOING TO HAVE A GO AT SNAREING A MOUSE :D , AFTER THAT IAM MOVING ON TO CATCHING FLYS IN CHOPSTICKS

ALL THE BEST

WHATS RIGHT WITH ELDER SHOULD BE THE QUESTION DITCH ...............

JUST NOT ON THE SAME PAR AS HAZEL , BLACKTHORN , HOLLY ETC , INCIDENTLY ......... THIS SET UP IS VERY CLOSE TO WHAT WE USED AS KIDS TO CATCH PHEASENTS WHEN RUNNING FROM COVERTS , DEADLY ON SOME SPOTS AS THEY PUSHED THROUGH THE HEDGES

ALL THE BEST

HI PEG,

YEP IVE USED COPPER ON THE SNARES , TO BE HONEST WHEN I TRYED THE SNARES OUT I NOTICED BECAUSE OF THE SOFTER NATURE OF COPPER AS OPPOSSED TO BRASS THEY SHUT JUST OFF THE WHIPPING ACTION OF THE WAND . ALSO PEG IF ANYONE SEES THESE SNARES AND DECIDES THEY HAVE MORE RIGHT TO THEM THAN ME , I CAN REPLACE THEM FOR NOTHING .... A BONUS WHERE I LIVE AS THEY WILL NICK THE CORN FROM A BLIND HEN !!! :D

.......... YOU WOULDNT BELIVE IT BUT 3 WEEKS AGO I CAUGHT A BIG OLD FELLA JUST ACROSS THE NOSE AND BEHIND THE FRONT TOP TEETH .

FORGOT TO SAY I USED ELDER ON A COUPLE OF WANDS AND THEY BOTH WENT AND BROKE WITH CATCHES IN THEM ....... BOTH STILL HELD THE RATS HOWEVER , HOW THEY DIDNT GET OUT IS A MYSTERY TO ME

JUST SAY WHEN THE DVDS ARE READY PEG AND I WILL PICK THEM UP ... OR YOU COULD POST WHATEVERS EASIER MATE ...

ALL THE BEST ......

TO YOU AND YOURS

THEN I LOOKED ALONG AND SPOTTED A GOLIATH :icon_eek: .............. IT WAS LIKE A FECKIN OTTER HANGING THERE

NOW I KNOW THIS HOLLY WAND , AND IT HANGS AN ADULT RAT ABOUT A FOOT FROM THE FLOOR ..... BUT THIS S.O.B WAS LAID WELL DOWN , I TOOK A PHOTO WITH A KNIFE NEXT TO IT FOR COMPARISON :icon_eek: , ACTUALLY BAGGED THIS FELLA AND MEASURED HIM FROM TIP OF NOSE TO THE BASE OF HIS TAIL WAS 14 13/4 " :o ,
