lampinglurcher 36
in my experience they can bring alot to the table in any mix - if you use the right one. ive only seen them used as drawing dogs, never able to get to ground properly but hopefully the others on here will prove me wrong. sean925 2
Book out by dracy books called dead game lot of pictures and pedigrees for staffs and wheatons might be worth a look I've read the book not much reading but interesting .wheatons where a trials dog when it was legal Broc ;-) Quote Link to post
bolio 49
Draw dogs only. I personally would consider the showbred type about as much as I would consider the showbred greyhound for hunting. If you want a bushing dog I would go for a springer or working cocker. That's my opinion as someone who had a few wheatens years ago, for what it's worth. 1 Quote Link to post

lawrence 657
at a guess she's maybe 18" and 40 odd pound. Edited October 12, 2010 by lawrence 1 Quote Link to post
Strong Stuff 2,171
at a guess she's maybe 18" and 40 odd pound. Just out of interest Lawrence, whats the temperament like? Are they similar to to bull type or different? Am looking for a dog to replace my Stafford that I lost in a custody battle , it would be a general all round dog, mostly a companion with a bit of hunting with my lurcher. Quote Link to post
fmwtc 12
I'd say a proper wheeton is a pleasure to own a lot less temperamental that a bull can be we have had both and working wheetons are a lot less hassle especially round terriers Quote Link to post
Terrier man 38
I'd say a proper wheeton is a pleasure to own a lot less temperamental that a bull can be we have had both and working wheetons are a lot less hassle especially round terriers nearly ever genuine working wheaten i,ve seen from a long line of workers have nearly been worse than pure bulls when it comes to other dogs etc.. Beat me to it paddy .... Quote Link to post
